| 13 | Lindsay Haven | female | 27 | Crohn's ileitis | 02/16/2010 | Kidney Stones, no other major health concerns. No medication. | None | Less digestion pain, normal bowel movements after 11 days. Loss of energy and weight. | Much less digestion pain, normal BM's still, gain in energy and weight. | N/A | N/A | N/A | I've been very strict on the diet and seen much improvement in a short span of time. During intro make sure to take lots of probiotics and try and go light on fruits and sugars. Breaking The Vicious Cycle doesn't talk about the yeast consequences of killing off bacteria quickly, and because of that I was unaware of why my symptoms suddenly got worse on SCD. So many people in the Yahoo Group BTVC-SCD have to have an even more restricted diet because of yeast, and I think that could be avoided if beginners learned about yeast sooner. Fortunately there are fabulous people in that Yahoo Group. I wish I would have joined it BEFORE starting SCD as it would have given me a better idea of the life style this diet promotes. Also, keep in mind that everyones body and health issues are different. What is legal on the diet may not be okay with your body at first, which can be a disappointing lesson to learn. But over time you will heal and likely your body will become more tolerant of more foods. |
| 14 | AC | female | 54 | Post Infectious IBS | 13.03.2009 | Nexium for heartburn (wrong diagnosis) Oestrogen for menopause (wrong diagnosis) 2 courses EEC antibiotic following Campylobacter food poisioning Antidepressants Pristiq and Avanza | Only antidepressants and I will start coming off them in one month! Yea! | Amazing improvement - no nausea, no abdominal pain, no diarrhoea, normal flatulence, no bloating! Also, a surprising improvement in my memory and concentration. | It is am amazing diet and I am so glad I found it after my GI gave me no ideas as to how I might improve from IBS. When I asked him my prognosis his words were "One third improve, one third stay the same and one third get worse". With SCD I am in the one third who get better! |
